2010 David Terry Award

In the spring of 1999, the David Terry Award was established by the ACCA. Named for a remarkable young man who tragically lost his life on January 6th, 1999, this award is considered the highest honor given by the Association of Christian College Athletics.
David Terry was a gifted athlete who played at
SouthwesternChristianUniversity.   As the starting point guard from 1994 to 1997 he helped lead the men’s basketball team to their first national championship during his senior season.  David received numerous conference and region awards and capped off his senior year by being named to the ACCA All-American team.
David Terry was committed to Christian service. A pastoral ministry major, David served the Lord in various ministry opportunities, including children’s pastor, teacher, and mentor. He excelled academically, was active in his community, and was committed to his local church. A leader both on and off the court, David was a friend to all who knew him.

It is with great honor that the ACCA presents the male recipient of the David Terry Award to Nicolaas Kamlade from MultnomahUniversity. Nick is a 6’2 Senior guard from Jefferson, OR, and a four year player at Multnomah. He was named to the 2008-2009 ACCA All American Team and has averaged 20.2 points per game over this year. In addition to that he is a great defender, and has led the team in steals all four of his years at Multnomah. Despite his success on the court the greatest attributes of Nick is his Christian service and leadership. He is a 2 year captain, and has served as a team leader on 2 basketball mission’s trips to Taiwan in his time in college, to help run basketball camps for children. He is very involved in his local church, and also volunteers to help twice a month in visits to the Children’s Hospital. Nick is a quality person and player that has been an outstanding leader throughout his four years at Multnomah. His honesty and dependability makes the ACCA proud to present Nicolaas Kamlade with the 2010 David Terry Award.
